Another wireless question

Can a wireless router be connected to an existing (wired) network?
I just want wireless access for my laptop, the rest of the familys computers are wired into an existing network I don;t wanna disturb. The existing network is connected to dsl internet.

You wouldnt need a router for that, just a wireless access point, then you just plug a cable from your existing network into that and your ready to go.

Thanks! I'm assuming those are cheeper than routers.
