'87 XR7 For Sale-5.0L Florida Car $700

Sadly, I must sell the car. Baby on the way...$700 obo.

About the Car:
1987 Cougar XR7 - 139K miles
5.0L V8
Auto Tranny
power options
moon roof

New Parts:
EGR valve
Throttle Position Sensor
MAP sensor
Idle Air Control (IAC) new
New Plug Wires (good ones)
Ignition coil
New Bulbs in digital dash
Power steering pump

Whats the deal?
The car runs great overall. I think there may be a vacuum leak. ??The car will idle fine for a minute, and then up...down...up...down..stall. Also, when you begin to coast at highway speeds, then gently apply throttle...the car hesitates for a second and then kicks in. I haven't spent any time recently to figure it out, but you can see by the list of parts above that I have tried to previously. Overall, it's peppy and will still smoke the tires...not that I have!

As far as I can tell, the car has spent its life in Florida. There is no rust on the body...and the car shows signs of being in the hot sun over the years (dash cowl has some cracks). Also, the paint job is "B" rated. I have owned the car since Memorial Weekend this year and my hopes of fixing it up are not coming to fruition. So...here she is looking for a new home. $700 or best offer.

Sounds like fuel problem. Did you try a fuel filter or pump? Also could be junk collecting on the sock in the fuel tank pickup.

By the way, how many miles?

Oh man, I am thinking about it. I am up in Georgia and I need a daily driver so I can pull the engine outta my Cat. I will keep you posted on if I can buy it or not!

by the way, I am only 3 hours away.
