assuming you have an aod.. you will loose overdrive wich will hurt freeway gas milage. the ratios would be the same as a car c6.
with a 1:1 3rd gear.

I wouldnt do it, you will be adding a ton of weight. If its just a driver stick to an AOD or T5, if its a race car go to a C4.

the T5's from the TC's have a pretty low first gear, but I hear they are decent behind a 5.0, I know alot of Inline6 guys use the 4 cyl t5's.

I would assume 1st to suck. Might as well have 2.73's if you stay with that tranny.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

The 4-banger trannys were also built to handle less power.  This was from this thread.  Hope that helps.

C-6 tranny has the big block bellhousing.  Small block C-6's are rare and most came on engines back in the 60's.  T-5, the 5.0L version is rated at 300 LBS of torque, the 4 cylinder ones are much less, but if used with that in mind, I believe they bolt up.  Good luck,  Fred
