No spark.. March 18, 2012, 05:20:16 PM 86 3.8 throttle body, 380,000miles<----unrealThe other morning I started the bird and returned to house as normal, I went back out to go to work, and the car had shut off, trying to restart it did not work..it just turned over. After several tries I started smelling gas...so I assumed a no spark issue. had to take the 86 F150 to work....So i get home from work and tried to start it again but same issues. I removed coil wire from distributor cap and found a ton of oxidation...I cleaned this all up...still no start...no spark..I replaced cap, rotor, and coil(the coil was the original).....but I still have no spark. I did unhook battery overnight....but the Bird will not fire....Help and thanxJByrd13 Quote Selected

No spark.. Reply #7 – March 18, 2012, 11:31:44 PM you can take your tfi to Oreilly's or auto zone and have them tested. Quote Selected
No spark.. Reply #8 – March 19, 2012, 05:25:58 AM TFI.... PIP>>>> Check coil key on voltage. If it is their disconnect the ECM plug crank it and that will confirm it. If it still does not have spark with the ECM disconnected pull the DIZZY and rebuild it. Quote Selected
No spark.. Reply #9 – March 23, 2012, 09:03:31 PM Sorry about the lateness getting back...but I wasn't able to work an the car while pouring down rain.....Anyway you guys are good!!! checked for PIP , was not there...I ground down a craftsman 7/32 deep-well socket slightly so it would go deep enough to get a bite on the machine screws. We were able to remove the TFI while the disturber was still in place. We then ohmed a few things out using this as reference http://351winsor.com/joel/Ignition_Systems/tfi2.html It showed a problem between A and D6 and B to C. Took TFI to AutoZone....Missing PIP fail....Replaced TFI with new ($48.and some change)....the Bird is back on the road!!!Thanks muchJByrd Quote Selected
