summer oil in a 5.0 April 11, 2011, 10:56:48 PM What oil should I run in my bird I threw in this motor to be able to drive the car while I am building a new 331 the current motor has about 120000 on it. It doesn't burn oil or leak but I have noticed that since its getting warmer out my oil pressure is dipping down a little bit. when its cold it runs around o on the normal and when its a little warmer out it runs between the o and r and sitting at an idle warmed up on a warm day it will drop down to the m I was just wandering if I should go with a little thicker oil for summer I am running 10w30 currently Quote Selected

summer oil in a 5.0 Reply #3 – April 12, 2011, 10:25:14 AM Get a pressure gauge on it so we know what kind of psig pressure it is running versus letters on the factory "gauge". I have seen way too much variance on the factory "gauges". I bought a mechanical one from AutoZone for about $15 a few years ago and it has fired off several new motors and I have used it to trouble shoot other issues. I typically run 20W50 here in Texas year around on the Coupe but our weather is a bit different than up north.Darren Quote Selected

summer oil in a 5.0 Reply #5 – April 13, 2011, 11:54:26 AM Best stuff on the market for a car that needs zinc IMHOIt's expensive, but you can go quite a long time between changes and the zinc content is higher than rotella. It's a full synthetic as well. Quote Selected
