timing gears December 17, 2010, 10:06:38 PM anybody got good video of em with the car running? i know i saw R.J.'s (1wildbird) on youtube, im thinking of getting em... i like the blower sound, and im wondering if it will go well with the sound of the KB blower :D but i cant find any good sound clips, let alone a KB with the gears... They transmit alot of harmonics and vibration into the drivetrain that can actually make it hard to keep timing at higher RPM's. For the $80 you would pay on top of a normal double roller timing chain, I would just stick with that. My stock single roller lasted 170k or so. Engine ran for about 3 years with very little maintenance at the strip, but developed a mysterious bog off the line. Changed everything, went back to what I started with, but changed to a timing chain instead of gear drive. Not only did it run fine again, but it also picked up .3 second! who would've figured? Seriously, it was very easy to install, just had to grind a casting off the inside of the timing cover. It was easy with a Dremel tool. That's all that was required.
