Washer Fluid in-line filter?

Hey all, I was cleaning up all the leaves/etc from my cowl area and realized there was a leak when I ran the washer fluid pump.  The leak was right at the in-line filter that's near the wiper motor, at the firewall.

I tried to take a better look at the leak, when I did the filter broke apart.  One nipple at the end snapped inside the rubber hose. Any ideas where I can find another filter?

It's an '88 Cougar.

That's what I've been doing, and I guess I'm okay with it.

But I kinda want that thing back. :)

I don't even know if the washer pump on mine even works as I haven't used it in almost 7 years. Hell I used the wipers last year for the first time in 6 years:hick:

I think that other 80's Fords have the same filter.

It's not a filter it's a one way check valve.
It allows fluid flow only in the outward direction,it keeps fluid in the line not allowing it to freeze.
You don't need it.

Ah, that's what it looked like!  I wondered if mine cracked because it actually froze in Houston and I had too much water in my system. Hmmmph.

Gotchya beat, there hasn't been fluid in my washer bottle since the 5.0 was installed in '99... I have used the wipers a few times, rained all the way to Carlisle a few years ago...

It also keeps fluid in the line so that you get instant fluid the moment you activate the washer switch. These are sold as a HELP! item at most auto parts stores.

The only reason it has washer fluid is because the bottle was full when I bought the car:hick:
