Has anyone used the DC controller? I hear it is a simple hookup and controller.

I have used it.  It is a quality piece and I will use one again in the future.  It is very easy to hook up and get running.

On my 84 Cougar, I mounted the controller on the support in front of the rad (pass side)that attaches to the grill support. It's close to the inlet of the rad for the sensor and close to the battery for hook-up.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I've been studying for an EPA refrigeration test and haven't had time to mess with the Bird. I got the location for the controller figured out thanks to your suggestions. Just have to get some padding to put between the shroud and the radiator, then install it. Hoping to get a lot done before April 17th, going to a local cruise and dyno day.

Not to mention with the TC nose.....You want to make sure you get flow even sitting at lights.

i've used it too, buy the indictor light too... it shows green when fan is off, yellow when 50%, and red when 100%.  You will be very surprised to see you fan off during highway speeds on a warm to hot day.  The airflow kicked up through the radiator is plenty to keep it cool.

I have one on my cougar with a mark8 fan. It's the same setup from my old tbird 306 combo,  a/c on stuck in traffic, 96* out and no problems.  It is very loud when the fan is at 100%

Cool, just around the corner. Let me know. Had mine out today. Just trying to get it ready for cruisin.  PO has this carb all FUBAR'd . And I'm completely fuel system retarded :mullet: !Thought about going around the block by you but decided against it since I won't have tags till tomorrow.

I take it you were able get those collector tags for it.

Back on topic for now, I'm running a Proform electric fan with one of those built in t-stats in the Cougar, not sure how well I like it yet.

Won't know about the "collector" tags till tomorrow.
The fan that's another story. Hooked it up per instructions. Warmed it up and nothing. Shut it off after a few runs up and down the street, then it came on. Either the radiator probe is screwy or the temp gauge (Sunpro) is off. Have to wait for plates before I can really check it out.

Took me forever to get mine dialed in somewhat right. I got some suspension issues to deal with right now before I can mess with it anymore.
