Do everything at once. It easier to swap everything over at one time than having to take the engine apart multiple times.

As for MAF just get the MAF meter and pigtail from a 5.0 Mustang at the junk yard. It's easy to wire into your harness. I did it ;)

The 7.5 will be fine behind the engine. I have a 7.5 with my engine and it's fine. I've even run it at the track with no problems.

There's a big lack of junkyards around here, that being said, the people who are parting Mustangs out want to sell the harness as a whole for upwards of $200. I think I'll just pick up the jumper harness for 40 bucks along with a cheap MAF meter.
That makes me feel better about the rear end. I'm atleast going to change the fluid for now.

throw the biggest transmission cooler on there you can, and get a shift kit. The shift kit will get you move power to the ground and harder. might be alittle harder on the rear though. I would just drive it till it pukes and watch out for a cheap 8.8. Your on the right track. I would also look out for an AOD out of a mustang, or the SC, just in case.

What kind of transmission cooler would you recommend? Plate-type or tube & fin? Tube and fin look more efficient to me. AOD-HP is the right part number for the TransGo shift kit, right? Hopefully the transmission lasts, I'll be dropping atleast 300 bucks into it in hopes that'll it'll extend it's life. The only exception is the cooler which I still need advice on, but the shopping list for my transmission looks like this so far:

TransGo Performance AOD-HP - $88.95
TransGo Performance AOD-HIREV - $25.95
Summit SME-1007R - $114.95
Summit SUM-G4969 - $83.95
B&M 80212 - $46.95

I have the Trans-Go kit in mine, with he Hi rev(used to come in one kit)... Stock pan, no cooler or transmission temp gage... I do have a hardened input shaft, broke the original first time at the track, but mine had the sorry cut shaft that was cut down at the rear of the splines....

I have the Trans-Go kit in mine also. It's a 100K mile V6 trans with a 5.0 HO in front of it. The Trans-Go kit is awesome...and my trans is still kicking.

I have my old tube and fin cooler if you want it, it's rated for 5000 lb pull, whatever that means. I had it for my aod till I swapped. My trans guy said it's more than enough for what he built me.
