Subaru turbo Reply #3 – April 11, 2009, 08:28:17 PM That sure LOOKS like a tiny compressor housing. Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #4 – April 11, 2009, 09:03:28 PM look at the car it's from..300HP stock. It's gotta be a decent one. I may take my spare exhaust and match it up. Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #5 – April 12, 2009, 12:06:41 PM That doesn't mean squat.Waste your money if you like I guess... Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #6 – April 12, 2009, 12:48:24 PM Thats an odd way to look at it. By the reasoning if a lugnut comes from a 550Hp Ford GT it MUST be good, right? Quote Selected

Subaru turbo Reply #8 – April 12, 2009, 09:40:03 PM Exactly! larger engine, DOHC, and the overall newer technology makes the 300hp not the turbo alone. If you put that turbo on a 2.3 you might gain a little, but nowhere near if you put a t3, t3/t4 or HX35 on there. I would recommend you save up a bit and get a larger turbo. Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #9 – April 13, 2009, 08:12:23 AM The 2.3 motor is pretty good on it's own as well....the turbo makes it even better...that's the way I was looking at it. Hence why I was wondering what the specs on it were, before i "wasted" my money as someone so eloquently put it. Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #10 – April 13, 2009, 08:33:44 AM Hate to say it like this but maybe if you want to know about the SUBARU turbo you should ask SUBARU enthusiasts? Just a wayward thought. Quote Selected

Hence why I was wondering what the specs on it were, before i "wasted" my money as someone so eloquently put it.The 2.3 puts out around 100-110hp NA in stock form on a good day. The addition of the turbo effectively doubled that in it's max factory trim. The stock 2.3 head flows for , even ported they don't flow near what most modern heads do. The 2.3T's had a pretty big turbo on them for the time and displacement because they were trying to cram a lot of air into them to get them to make power to overcome the poor-flowing design of the motor. Had it flowed better, it would have required less turbo. The T3's on the Ford 2.3T's are an "upgrade" to many of the other turbo cars of the time, such as the Volvos and Saabs. Hell, the turbo on my Volvo turbo is tiny compared to the stock .60/.63 T3's on the Fords. Even at that, it put out the same power as the Fords even with a smaller displacement, smaller turbo and less boost... Why? A better flowing head. I'm not talking about the 16V one folks are using as a conversion these days though. Even the 8V Volvo head is an "upgrade" over the Ford one in regards to flow. That turbo is a small turbo to boost an already well-flowing. They don't need to hang a big turbo on it to get the power.Just because the Subie engine makes 300hp with that turbo, doesn't mean the 2.3T will. It's a small turbo and a waste of your money (yes, I said it again). A T3/T4 or a Holset is your choice for the 2.3T, not a turbo smaller than what you have already. Quote Selected
Subaru turbo Reply #12 – April 13, 2009, 12:05:28 PM Gotcha Chuck, that's why my original post asked what the specs were, not to compare apple motors to orange motors. You never know when something of the wall, like a subaru turbo, might be a perfect fit. Quote Selected
