Well you must have had trac-loc or something, cause the ice we get down here is rediculous. Just snow isnt that bad, try wintery mix with freezing rain. Fuuget about it.

Yanno....both my GF and the P.O. of my TC said it wouldn't drive worth poo-poo in the slick. Then on the way home I drove through rain AND snow without any issues.

course I also subscribe to the theory "Ignorance is Bliss" If you don't know you can't do something, it increases the chances you actually can!

Tires. If you're going to drive a T-Bird in the winter (shame on you) it's all about tires. Get a good set of winter tires and these things are tanks. I drove my '87 Sport through some of the deepest snow we'd had in years and only got stuck once - and "stuck" meant back up about 15 feet and try again. Of course the traction lock rear helped too...

We have often driven the Cougar in the winter (more than we want to, but necessity wins out over want). I prefer it over the front wheel drives, especially the Taurus.

The guys are right... you must have good tires on it!!
This is teh reason I don't have the Cougar on the road right now... we need tires and brakes. So, it is sitting for nwo. Once they are fixed, if I need to go out, I will drive it, not that I like to do that, but as I said ... necessity.

We got a rental yesterday. We called our insurance company right away and they are handling everything for us. We don't have to deal with GE at all and our insurance company is arranging everything from the rental car to taking the Taurus to the repair shop. We don't have to do anything at all.
Besides, that is why we pay them... they can do the work for us and we don't have to deal with the hassle from GE. :D

Roger is ok, he feels fine...so that's a bonus. The front of the Taurus looks terrible. There is hood damage, fender, headlights, grill, etc. That's just from looking at it. We won't know until the repair shop gets it and looks at it what the extent of the damage is.

So, we are now running around in an '08 Dodge Grand Caravan with stow n go seating, and a cool shifter on the dash that lets you shift manually or automatically. We are thinking we might want one next year so this gives us a chance to drive it for a few days and see if we like it.

I used to be in the car biz, and have bought a couple of Chrysler minivans (trade ins) for resale. Hate to say it, but I kinda like driving them. They're handy, and I think everyone ought to have one:burnout:
