cooling system question July 27, 2010, 04:58:39 PM what would cause the coolant recovery not to work? the hose is fine no clogs or holes the port to the filler neck is clear. the coolant pushes out of the rad cap when the car cools down. the odd thing is if you take the rad cap off when the car has cooled down it is pressurized. You have no leaks. The coolant overflow tank is working if it's not overflowing. I'll bet if you check it when it's been sitting for quite some time you'll find it's not pressurized. The coolant flows out of the radiator when hot and sucks back in when cooling down.No Defect.Steve Quote Selected
cooling system question Reply #2 – July 27, 2010, 09:39:09 PM yep. Just like tbirdsps said. If you leave it overnite then the pressure may be gone. But you want the pressure so you can get the engine up to the 185 + degree heat without boiling over. Quote Selected
cooling system question Reply #3 – July 30, 2010, 11:54:13 PM well the pressure got even worse... the overflow hose kept popping off the rad neck. so i took it off the overflow bottle and was checking the inlet/outlet on that. i dont know what was in there but that hole was clogged. everything working good now!
