The point is you're talking about your kids being traumatized by a picture yet you're using language which is obviously offensive. Amazing, truly amazing.  However typical though of the type of parenting I must deal with everyday.  No wonder.

My original post was the rememberance of my brother being hit and killed in a car accident actually - it gave me personal trauma seeing people flying through the air as I also saw my brother fly through the air after he washiznit (he was only 9).

I was careful not to have the kids see the people jumping out of the Trade Center as they were only 5 & 6 years old at the time and would not have understood anyway and may have been traumatized.

Cool, but that is a personal experience you had which should not apply to the rest of us.  If you can't take it, which I can understand, then fine, don't view it.  However, remember, not all of us have had the same experiences thus we don't truly see the offensive nature of that picture.  As for WTC, that is a personal choice that you made and rightly so.  Good, you did what YOU think is best for YOUR children.  Fine, good, excellent.  However trust me man, six year old kids understand what occurred if explained properly.  In fact, I was at a middle school working and had to explain some of the images seen on television.  The kids handled it fine and actually learned alot about the world and expressed their views in an intelligent manner.  The media should not and does not have to cater to every personal sense of discretion held by every individual.

Don't assume I didn't explain WTC to my children as I am the parent and that is MY job, not some corporate shill. I also explained why I took the picture of the skid marks (they were in the car). They NEED to know this stuff as it is reality. Heck, my mother and ex-wife and girlfriend ALL can't stand to see pictures on the news - so they simply don't watch it - their choice. There are many many forums that don't allow death shots though - so it's up to the management. Then there is taking into consideration the WHOLE community and not just your own personal viewpoint.

Okay, so then a vote should be cast to see how many people found that shot offensive.  Because of course as you stated, it's a WHOLE community, not just your own personal trauma and issues.  Correct?

Not my point at all. I never suggested he remove it - not my style. I'm generally not into censorship - self-censorship should be all that's ever needed with a good group of people who share a common interest and who care about the community as a whole. Others that I agreed with may have suggested it be removed - I don't recall. I thought it was unnecessary and it reminded me of a personal trauma - and said so. I hope it's OK to tell people here that you don't agree with something they have posted. I didn't expect to see this here - I know where to go when I want to see pics like that. It's my choice to put people on ignore and that is how I usually deal with excessively off-topic and provocative posters. The person who showed a falling person after I described my brother flying through the air when he was killed is, you guessed it, on ignore. You make arguments in your defense which is cool with me - I'm rather enjoying having an actual discussion on the topic versus name calling, though name calling has it's place too :D

I've voiced MY opinion on THIS a few times.....If it's not derogatory or threatening (or lewd for purposes of this board), it's fair game.

FWIW I don't feel the way I posted originally was any of the 3.  I did take into account as to how some others felt and reeled it in a bit.
Hindsight says I should have done so from the outset.

I thought you handled it just fine actually. The thread has now morphed into a broader discussion on censorship though - please don't take it personal. I will say that there are many things one can do that are not technically illegal (repeatedly scratching your crotch in public for instance), but some may think it's objectionable and steer a wide berth around you.

LJS, I don't think Paul removed the picture because anyone 'called' for it. He  did it out of kindness to those of us who were effected by it.  It was his choice to do so. There's a difference.

Fine, however this topic went off course when Cougar 5.0 found the need to bring out language, which if I'm not mistaken, is definately not appropriate on this board.  Am I mistaken?
