As for the Twin Towers opinion from jcasstiy,We NEED to see those clips so we,as a nation, don't forget what can happen when we don't pay attention. It's horrible, ugly, uncomfortable,,and sickening, but,it's necessary. Some things need to be remembered and seen.Sometimes there's more at stake than just unsettling feelings. After all that happened on 911,people WANT to forget and "move on",which, puts us at serious risk for the same thing (or worse) to happen again. To many people are so concerned with how things will make their feelings hurt,or how things make them uncomfortable, that is one of the major reasons everything around us is falling apart. We can't live and be functional if everyone tries to sterilize everything so everyone will have the appearance of comfort and happiness while the rest of the world around us falls to pieces..

Sorry for the rant.

sheesh people....

I had an aunt that I was very close to killed instantly by a vehicle and that picture did not bother me at all. I mean some people take things different ways but ....

I have seen far worse gore pics online when I did not want to and I guess that pic was not really all that bad.

Sorry for all of your losses but it's not like V8Demon was trying to hurt anyones feelings.

I concur.  As for the comment about a child walking in and seeing the photo of the bike race.  Well I'm not a parent, however I am a school teacher.  I show this movie called "Invisible Children" about the crimes being committed against the children in the Northern Uganda region.  This movie is a documentary that shows REAL DEAD BODIES.  Why do I show this and have complete parent permission?  Because kids need to, under a controlled atmosphere, see the realities of REAL life.  Granted these are older children, however it's up to the parent to be the censor, not the media in every situation.  Watch your kids, talk to them, monitor their television, explain to them the images they see on television news.  But please do not impose your standards on the rest of us by imposing strict censorship that goes down to even a photo of a tragic situation at a bike rally.  You as the parent are resonsible for shielding your child in the manner you deem fit.  Not the media by having extremist censorship.

Nobody who felt it was excessive and unnecessary has used the word censorship.

Perhaps not directly but in my opinion the statements regarding the media in regards to WTC is a step from censorship.

Where did you mention the Trade Center in this post?

You were directly implying that I was "imposing" censorship since I mentioned my kids.

Stick to your guns - don't be a sally-wagon when confronted.

Being a what?  Wow, where in hell did that come from?  Well if you want to turn it nasty then let's do this.  Being what you just called me would be if we were arguing in real life and I backed down from a physical confrontation from you, which I assure you would never happen.  Don't use that kind of  on me man.  Save that kind of talk, which I am sure you don't want your kids to see, right?  Save that for your buddies or individuals you can intimidate, not me.

The point is you're talking about your kids being traumatized by a picture yet you're using language which is obviously offensive. Amazing, truly amazing.  However typical though of the type of parenting I must deal with everyday.  No wonder.
