transmission and speedo gear help?

do they make a speedo gear for a c5 transmission so the 4:10 gears in the rear will read right with the speedometer or do i have to wait till i switch to aod later this year and be able to find one easier? will this work with my transmission? http://mustangunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=DFM17271J+01
instead of having to go to a floor shifter when i do the aod is there a way to leave it a column shifter?

84 mercury cougar v6- was a v6/ nitrous drag car, going back to mostly stock
81 chevy malibu-protouring/  drag car.( efi sbc supercharged 283 that will rev to the moon, 2004r, 4:11 posi rear)

are you sure you have a 7 tooth splined shaft? 23 teeth on the plastic gear is a lot. they usually get chewed off.
