If you haven't spent the money on the beehive springs yet, you may want to reconsider a conventional spring.

I found they weren't worth the extra cash, despite all the hype.  Getting them installed correctly was a hassle.  Ended up milling the spring pocket and using a stepped retainer to get the proper installed height.  This was all at additional cost, over and above the price of the spring set.  Of course, the hype tells of lighter weight and superior valve control.  I did not experience better valve control, they floated at 6,300.  In this case I could have bought titanium retainers and conventional springs much cheaper (about 1/2 the cost) and had better valve control.

Beehive springs were developed for SBC, which has clearance issues between the retainer and the rocker arm.  The small retainer of the beehive eliminates this problem.  A SBF has plenty of room for a conventional retainer and rocker arm clearance.

If you have a SBF, beehives can be a pricey and unnecessary upgrade.  It was for me.

Thanks for the info 86. The heads are already ported with standard HO springs,so I will leave them alone. Do I run the Mustang spark plugs or the T-bird spark plugs?

Stang plugs should be a good starting point...

Um,well,I have an AOD and the E303,and the car has some wicked mid-range power,and idles a little "loapy",but is great.I have 3.55 gears.When I floor it from a stop,the tires don't have a chance (255 40 17).

Whats you gunna do with stick?LOL,I love how the E cam gets battered,It's a decent cam old school maybe?,It's got its merits if you no how to match it up and dial it in.

Sorry Vinnie...it was a "B" cam in that 'Stang...not an E cam...I still don't like any of'em...lol.  I'm about as stubborn as an old mule too.

I was checking out some ISKY cams and they have a nasty low end cam...idle like stock, should work well with SD and stock valve springs....I can't remember the guys name here (I just woke up and am extra lathargic, cut me some slack) with a 10:1, "P" headed 5.0 with a Comp Magnum 266 cam and from my research that's a nice entry level all around cam...he put his new exhaust clip up...I'm sure you guys heard that...idled so nice...zero surge...I think that was the same guy...i don't know...still not with it...where's my coffee?

That would be my car;)

Cam works great but I had to bump the idle a bit with SD (it has a 114* lobe separation angle). It bumped mine to idle at 1050 rpm in park and 750 rpm in drive when hot. Works great and I've had no probelms so far.
