need help guys.... Reply #15 – August 21, 2007, 04:03:29 AM yeah I agree Jim. And SHE emailed me and told me SHE is firm on the price as it is too nice to let go ant cheaper. That explains the contradictions. I have had nothing but coupes, I want a Hatch this time..... I think. LOL. I will be modifing it as well, so I am leaning more towards the LX, now. Hell I can always throw on a four eyed front clip when I paint it. Quote Selected
need help guys.... Reply #17 – August 21, 2007, 09:58:13 AM I would lean twords the LX also. I'm not intrested in how many "eye's" it has , I like the style better, and $1000 will buy a lot of parts. Even if the GT was "mint" what do you care? I see your blue Bird, your going to go through whatever you get and personalize the thing anyway. Had a friend that had a wad of $ and wanted to get a 67 Chevelle restored. had two to choose from Option #1) $1200 fact 4speed (his preferance) but rusty quarters, rusty floorboards, needing paint and int, Ran and drove but looked like . Option #2) $5000 Paint "ok" Interior "ok" no "visable" rust, int worn and faded but intact, Automatic on the tree, ran and drove great. He bought #2.. (to save a little $.. it was in better shape) took it straight to his pre choosen body man (guy he knew was good, best in town) who Quoted $10k for a full body/int restore this would include new quarters, floorboards, fenders, carpet seats, dash etc.etc. guy refused to do it any other way his rep was on the line and he dident do jobs half assed.. "30 year old floorboards NEED are just that 30 years old, they are showing fatige". My friend asked him about option #1) what would that factory 4speed have cost him, the guy quoted him $10k for a full body/int restore this would include new quarters, floorboards, fenders, carpet seats, dash etc.etc.. True story! If your going to do it your way anyway, who cares if it's "mint" when you get it! Quote Selected
need help guys.... Reply #18 – August 21, 2007, 11:07:06 AM If you have to buy a beater mustang ron then definetley the 88,stay away from any stang with a sunroof(rust, body twist)just not a good idea. Not sure why you would waste the cash on a rusty stang instead of supercharging and fixing up your mint cougar but to each his own. I still haven't decided to buy it yet. Nothing is set in stone. I will just go down and look at it and see if it is worth buying and fixing up and flipping it. the dumb kids around here pay a fortune for rotted stangs so throw a coat of paint on it and I should be able to seel it rather quickly.:D Trust me Chris I still haven't put off the Blower idea yet, though to be honest I am alittle affraid to go that route. I have not had good luck with the bearings in the bottom of my motors, I would have to assume a blower on top would just exasperate the issue. We can talk it over tomorrow at the show if you are comming. Quote Selected

Reply #20 – August 21, 2007, 04:00:20 PM This is true stangs due sell down here for way more than there worth and i'm sure you'd get the cash back out of it,but ya should look for a winter beater, truck, tempo, something cheap and not worth fixing up.Trust me you'll get the stang and start dumping time and money into it just because it's a stang.Had to stop myself from doing that to the sc as it's just supposed to be a driver. Not sure if i'm going tommorow as the GF has forbid me from the carshow as i was late coming home last time LOL.We'll see,you don't want to piss off a pregnant woman LOLAs far as the bottom end bearings go,if you get a good eng to start you won't have any issues. It's the block splitting you have to worry about LOL.
