Playin with the DD September 12, 2007, 11:05:30 AM As any good car owner I feel the need to make improvements even though this is the DD car and it only cost me $200 not including the work I did to put it on the road. So I read about the CAI for the 94 Cougar 4.6L and they want lots of money for there I say. So I set out to make my own. To start of the factory part is Huge and doesn't flow very good. Here is a pic to give you and Idea. So that had to go. I went and bought some supplies and worked it out. so here we go. Now the car takes off way better. It sounds like a V8! What do you guys think? It only cost me about $30. I removed the air silencer before this. Quote Selected

Playin with the DD Reply #2 – September 12, 2007, 12:22:11 PM now just get rid of the box and drop a cone K&N in the fender. Quote Selected
Playin with the DD Reply #3 – September 12, 2007, 01:01:10 PM Now hack up the original tube so it will sit on top of your new intake and look stock. That would be sweet. :) Quote Selected

Playin with the DD Reply #11 – September 12, 2007, 10:03:10 PM Nice work. I've heard that the "violin box" intake is very restrictive, and it may have some baffle(s) inside for noise reduction. I like what you did. I got lucky with my '96, as it already had the revised intake. Also, you may as well keep the stock air box, as it's essentially a cold air design and an aftermarket piece won't really make that much of a difference. Be wary of the K&N filters, too. If they have too much oil on them, the wires on the MAF can become coated with the oil. This may cause the MAF wires to become built-up with poo and make the car run like butt.Yes, I'm a wordsmith.Quote from: V8Demon;175834No, you were being a postw....Indeed. Quote Selected

Never fear I have those Tamper proof torx bits and a can of that MAF cleaner. That is gonna last me for a long time. Besides I don't go crazy with the oil any way. I use the lest number of light light coats to make a very nice even thin coat. I like to wait 30 min between coats that helps soak it all up before you add more you might not need. Quote Selected
