Those are TOTALLY different from the earlier ones like on my doors.  Those are like what was sent to me.

Perhaps if that arm was attached they would have worked, but lacking those, there is no way the early arm/c-clip will fit those.

Very true... Guess I didn't pay enough attention to that '88 set I had...

wow, i can't believe i missed this thread.....
here's my :2c: (not that anyone is listening anyway)

i have an 83 (at least the wife does)
one of my locks didn't illuminate, so i went to the junkyard and got the door locks off of an 88 cougar...  although they fit the hole perfectly, they didn't mount on the rod the same way, so i rigged them to work using E-clips... then i realized that i now needed 3 keys so i went back and got the ignition key..... that ALSO fits, however the "key in the ignition" chime doesn't work now because they made those differently too...... so now, i have 88 ignition and door keys and an 83 trunk key.....  and they all still work, but i mostly use the keypad to unlock the doors.....  i'm sure i didn't shed ANY light on this subject, other than to say that i still have the 83 ignition and door lock cylinders, but i don't know if they'll help you...

it doesnt help my current lock situation, but it does reinforce the pattern we are findin here.

looks like the 83-5 locks interchange and the 86-8 locks interchange, but early to late poses issues.
