LX VS sport? Reply #15 – September 27, 2006, 09:50:18 PM i didnt really factor in that other stuff, i just figured 2.3 vs 5.0 and aod vs t-5, the tc would be lighter...i also didnt kno it had 25% more power, i assume because its a 4 cilynder and turboed, it makes most of its power very high in the revs, vs the 5.0's low end torque, so bein the same weight, u 2.3 guys probably do alot of downshiftin on hills, idk, if i had to own a 4 banger, i would definatly pick a tc/84-86xr7, i think thats bull too, tc's got 25% more power, the xr-7;'s coulda got the HO, im kinda just ranting on now:( Quote Selected
LX VS sport? Reply #16 – September 28, 2006, 07:34:24 AM QuoteSports, LX's and Base models all had identical power trains (as far as 5.0 versions are concerned). I believe that all Sports had the 3.08 rear as compared to the 2.73 standard rear in base/LX 5.0 cars, but 3.08's were optional in those, so one can't really call a Sport "faster".I know my Sport has 2.73 gears dont know about anyone elses but thats what i got in mine according to the door tag Quote Selected

LX VS sport? Reply #20 – September 28, 2006, 04:01:54 PM turbos will bring the torque peak down in a hurry. I don't shift excessively with my TC. Unless you just up shifted, or are trolling around at low speed in a higher gear, all you do is gas it and watch the boost gauge come up and get pushed into the seat:grinno: Quote Selected

LX VS sport? Reply #22 – September 28, 2006, 10:41:50 PM 2.73 gears to a 3.08 gear is not much of a difference. Something like 3.55 or 3.73 gears and a Traction Lok will make a noticeable difference in performance. The big mechanical differences between a Sport and a LX (I have a LX) are that the LX has mushier springs, shocks, smaller roll bars front and back, and no quad shocks. Most LXs don't have Traction Loks but most Sports do. Appearance wise a Sport has blacked out trim and door handles and a center consle and floor shifter standard, buttstuffog dash, and standard door panels. The LX has chrome trim and door handles, conslette and column shifter, digital dash, and Turbo Coupe style door panels. Quote Selected

LX VS sport? Reply #24 – October 01, 2006, 01:34:57 PM why was traction lock such a big deal if most of the v-6's and v-8's that had them optional, couldn't even bark a tire? And my 86's had 2.73 and 3.08 and I cant tell the diffrence at all. My 87 had a 3.27(?) and you could tell alittle bit. Quote Selected
