CAT/BIRD RollerRockers 3.8 From WindAerostar? December 30, 2005, 05:42:43 PM Is there a swap for my 87-TBird 3.8 where I can get roller Cam and Lifters and/or roller rockers? In my surfing I vaguely recall someone saying something about how the Windstar or Aerostar 5.0 rockers could bolt on where the conventional (non-shaft) 3.8 rockers are? The idea I seemed to glean was that the RollerRockers did not need a round shaft upon which to rock but rather bolted on to the same pedastal as do the conventional 3.8's. Quote Selected
CAT/BIRD RollerRockers 3.8 From WindAerostar? Reply #1 – December 30, 2005, 05:55:13 PM If I remember correctly all the 3.8 heads are pedestal mount so Mustang ones will work however if I remember correctly again, the 3.8 motors came with 1.7 stamped steel rockers and all the Windsor motors came with 1.6. Please someone verify this for me cause I'am not 100% sure. If you want roller rockers you can use ones for a Mustang as long as they are pedestal mount.James Quote Selected

Morana racing makes 1.8 ratio roller rockers for the 3.8. Quote Selected

So go to the yard and pull them off and put them on your 5.0. You know have gone from 1.6 to 1.7 ratio for probably under $30. Cheap little trick. I wouldn't run 1.8 3.8 rockers on a 5.0 though that would have terrible valve train geomotry I think.James Quote Selected
CAT/BIRD RollerRockers 3.8 From WindAerostar? Reply #5 – January 02, 2006, 12:56:21 PM Just an FYI of sorts...Aerostars never came with the 3.8 to my knowledge. You could only get them with a 3.0, maybe the 4.0, and a scant few had 2.3's in them (they had the same engine options as the ranger) Quote Selected
