Wiper Removal

I have an '83 'Bird that I wish the remove the wiper arms from.  Followed the manual, arms up on windshield, pulled clip back and pulled up on arms, nothing.  Am I missing something or should I use more force to pry up the arms?  Any ideas?  Fred

I had to replace an arm on my cougar and I had the same problem. I took a pair of pliers to the small tab the haynes book says to pull out and gave it a good tug. It slides out farther than you think and then the wiper arm can be wiggled right off.

you must slightly lift up on wiper blade end of arm to release tension then slide tab out once the tab is out the arm will sit on tab so that you can remove and reinstall easily.
