I know nothing about audio components. Reply #17 – November 24, 2005, 04:34:02 PM That's not a bad place.. however now you have to consider accessibility / locations for other components of the computer like the cd/dvd rom. it'll ahve to be an external.. and where will you place it.. if you decide to put it up in the radio dash panel then you'll have to find a USB extension cable that's long enough to reach, basically keep all the small things in mind. I know nothing about audio components. Reply #18 – November 24, 2005, 09:52:15 PM yeah been looking into it. I need a solid 5v at 2 amps. I dont want to have to buy an external usb power supply, but it is looking that way. Apperently the usb ports on a motherboard only carry about .5 amps. So about 1/4 what I need. I have more research before I can be sure. Also, I want to try and make the laptop hard drive mounted under the arm rest, and make the arm rest flip up to uncover it. only thing I am not sure on is ventilation. I dont think it would be too hard if I go with the free air bass system. I could just make a whole a put a big fan on it. it would be cool to put a plexiglass window in there with neon, but I am lazy and dont really want people to know I have one. Quote Selected
I know nothing about audio components. Reply #19 – December 04, 2005, 03:31:14 PM I have a couple of quick questions. I am abandoning putting the screen where the clock goes. I want to put a speaker there. WHat do you think the biggest size I could fit would be? I want to fit about a 5 1/4" speaker there, and maybe even an encloser in the dash. I do not care about the vents or anything like that.ALso, it sounds like I can just lengthen the wires to the CDROM and wire it into the console somewhere. I am not sure though. I am mesuring everything in the next couple of days. Quote Selected
I know nothing about audio components. Reply #20 – December 04, 2005, 04:00:30 PM from my observation once you rid of the vents there should be enough room in there to stick a 5 1/4" speaker. Quote Selected
I know nothing about audio components. Reply #21 – December 04, 2005, 08:39:23 PM Um your not going to be able to use an IDE drive if you plan on Locating the drive away from the M/B. I don't remember exactly how long but Ide Cables over 3 feat just don't work. Also remember that you can't go over 6' to a non powered usb device. Sometimes it works and most of he time it doesn't.
