Progress On My latest Project September 02, 2005, 09:59:56 PM Cobra replica, chassis #4343RD. Power will be from a Ford Motorsport block, Edelbrock heads and a Edel Victor jr intake. Custom ground cam, Holley 650 DP carb. Custom headers and side exhaust. I have the chassis basically complete, just have to weld in some mounting tabs, etc. Wheels are 17X8 and 17X11. The front wheels in the photo won't be used. John Quote Selected

Re: Progress On My latest Project Reply #3 – September 02, 2005, 10:21:02 PM Thanks, Guys! I forgot to mention it has a IRS from a '89 TBird S/C, 3:55 track lock, custom axles and upper and lower control arms. The tranny is a T5Z. Everything on it is new, except for the gas tank and the rear dif housing, and that has been completely rebuilt. All the brake compinents are new, PBR two piston calipers in the front, single piston in the rear. I'm also using a Wilwood triple master cylinder assembly, (hyd clutch) Steering is a 15:1 Flaming river rack and a modified early Corvette steering column in polished stainless steel. Coil overs are Eibach with Koni series 30 race shocks. Horse power should be around 375, and with a curb weight of 2300 lbs it ought to scoot pretty good Quote Selected

Re: Progress On My latest Project Reply #5 – September 11, 2005, 12:00:57 AM Looks great John. I have a friend who is also building one. I spotted the 95 SC rear diff for him, and he plans to use a stroker 383 chevy and richmond 5-speed (chevy fan). He plans to be putting out 500 hp.If I had the $$$ and time to do one of these Factory Five Racers, I'd install a Turbo 2.3L w/5 speed. Just imagine running a low 13/high 12 in the quarter, and still getting 30+ mpg on the highway. :D Quote Selected

There's a guy I read about that installed a Buick Grand national turbo engine in one. It hauls A**. Quote Selected

They are not that expensive a kit. The basic kit costs $12,990. That, and a '87 and up Mustang to use for the running gear, will get you a running Cobra, and with a curb weight of around 2300 lbs, will out run just about anything on the road! You just have to be careful to not go too wild on the options. Alot of guys also do their own paint and bodywork which will save even more money. Quote Selected
