ed water.....*HELP*

So I *get* to do a water pump in my v-6 car. I have already bought it, any surprises along the way? Will I need a pulley puller or would I be okay to use the hammer(figuratively of course  ;) ). What all will I have to take off/put back on. Its a 87 which means its cfi. thanks guys.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

most of the front end accessories need to come off, the fan, shroud, pulley, that stuff

no puller needed
It's Gumby's fault.

any surprises along the way?
You're going to break 3 of the double-ended bolts that hold it on due to corrosion, you won't know what size they're supposed to be, the Ford dealer won't know, you'll search this site and find nothing, then the entire Internet and find nothing, then you'll just sit and cry for a few hours before calling the wrecker to take it away and crush it.

Don't forget to put sealant on the threads of this bolt:

just take a good one in with you to the auto parts store, the advance auto's around here have this neat litle thing where your thread your bolt into it, and find the proper thread, then you just need to know length

and yes, definatly put thread sealant on the one MasterBlaster has highlighted, i forgot to, and was wondering why i was leaking coolant
It's Gumby's fault.

no puller needed

Don't you need to pull the PS pulley to remove the driver's accessory bracket?
I can't remember. I may change my water pump this afternoon.

hey yeah I missed a bolt and pulled alittle too hard. long story short, I can see the distributor gear through were to water pump goes. When jb weld says engine blocks, how good is that. I am pretty much screwed here. I will have to take a picture. I cracked it on the bolt that I didnt realize had a nut thingy on it. How the hell can the water pump be buffer then the engine block? ed v-6's. This may be something to junk the car over.
