[Found] Looking for a rear end for my 87 Cougar

My Cougar went into the ditch last weekend and it has at a minimum snapped one of my axle shafts. I'm looking for a replacement rear end. If you've got positrack or a Turbo Coupe rear end with disc brakes, even better. My Cougar's the 20th anniversary model with the quad shocks, I imagine it's the same on the XR7.

The car is at my mechanic's shop right now and I'm going to be out of town for about 3 weeks for work, so this would have to be a local sale (Detroit/Dearborn area) where either my mechanic picks it up or you deliver. (I know it's weird, but I didn't pick the timing).

If you've got any leads, PM me or give me a call: (eight 4 seven)-924-3286.

That's close enough that it's tantalizing. My parents are north of Chicago. I may have to bother them while I'm out of town. I'll send you a PM.

After speaking with my mechanic, we are looking for a quad shock rear end specifically.

If one doesn't turn up...well, we'll see.

That rear end looks nice to me, and Fort Wayne is not too far of a drive either. Is it straightforward to go from the 7.5" rear end with the 9" drum brakes to the 8.8" with the 10" drums? Does it bolt straight up and use the existing brake lines, MC, etc?

Yep. I replaced the original 7.5 in my 87 lx with this one. Went 5-lug a few months ago with a complete axle and ect. I don't have the e-brake pieces anymore but yours should work. If not just swap your 9" brake parts over to it.
