Hard gas pedal on first start...? April 15, 2014, 08:17:33 PM I have been having an issue with my gas pedal being very hard to push down on first start, even sometimes when driving. I tried cleaning the throttle body plate with throttle cleaner, thinking it may be getting "hung up", but that didn't help. Any suggestions or other causes ? Thanks in advance Quote Selected

Hard gas pedal on first start...? Reply #2 – April 20, 2014, 10:50:45 PM If its hard to press, then frees up for the remainder of travel likely the blade is sticking in throttle bore... You'd check that with throttle and kickdown cables removed then see if it sticks when fully closed, if so it'll need a tweak to base idle which will probably mean resetting TPS voltage... Hard gas pedal on first start...? Reply #4 – May 05, 2014, 12:22:32 AM I tried cleaning the plate or blade inside the throttle body but it didn't help. Also sprayed the area with wd-40 where the throttle cable can be manually accelerated under the hood (the black button looking thing) and still didn't help. Probably need a new cable. Quote Selected
Hard gas pedal on first start...? Reply #5 – May 05, 2014, 12:34:57 AM Could also be the kickdown linkage. everytime i fire the tbird up (t-5) to move it i can't beleive how much looser the gas pedal feels. Quote Selected

Hard gas pedal on first start...? Reply #7 – May 05, 2014, 06:43:53 AM It goes from the transmission to the throttle body. May need a bit of lube at the points that move. Make sure nothing is binding. Quote Selected
