Re: Anyone have heads for sale?? Reply #33 – May 05, 2005, 12:03:06 AM Ive milled my Windsor Jrs about .030, and they started with 58cc chambers lol. You can mill OHV heads up to .040-.045 or until the intake ports dont line up. Even then, they can be angle cut to allow the ports to still remain aligned. Just FYI. Quote Selected
Re: Anyone have heads for sale?? Reply #34 – May 08, 2005, 12:48:20 PM Are the heads you are buying pedestal mount or stud mount? I have a set of Performer heads as well. Edelbrock used the SAME casting number. "6025" on all their heads even the Victor Jr.'s so dont go buy that number. On Edelbrocks their is a couple of ways to determine what you have: 1. Does it have EGR provision on the intake side of the head?2. Is it pedestal or stud mount?3. The "E" casting with the circle around it notes that it is the newer casting (01 and newer I think, dont quote me) which Eedelbrock improved flow characteristics then the non E heads. Not by much but a little.4. Measure the intake valves. Performers(RPM's as well) came with either 1.90 or 2.02" valves. How to identify if you have Performer, Performer RPM and Performer 5.0/5.8 heads? Easy:All Performer heads are 3/8" stud mounted AND have EGR ports. All Performer RPM heads are 3/8" stud mounted AND have NO EGR ports. Both of these heads can come in either 1.90 or 2.02" valves. All performer 5.0/5.8 heads are pedestal mount, can come with 1.90 or 2.02" valves and have EGR ports. All the headbolt holes are 1/2" and you have to use the bushings only if you are installing them on a 289/302. All these heads have 170cc intake port chambers as well. They all have 60cc chamber volume heads too.Now for the weird part. Victor Jr's. The older casting Vic Jr's said "Performer" on the head and not "Victor Jr". The easiest way to tell is to look at the raised exhaust ports on the heads:All Performers: Victor Jr's:Look at the Victor Jr exhaust port and see how its raised? The only reason why I mention this is because my friend bought a set that said Performer on the side. He assumed he had Performer heads then he measured the intake valve which came to 2.05". He thought someone put bigger valves in which was not the case. He measured the exhaust ports and they where raised like picture. Hope this helps!James Quote Selected
ummm....Moderator(s)? Reply #35 – May 08, 2005, 12:53:43 PM One more thing. Can any of you mods make this a sticky in the "Hits, tips and near misses"? Many people including myself have been through the Edelbrock casting numbers which are false. Thanks, James Quote Selected
