Tranny Fluid change September 28, 2010, 08:39:00 PM Gonna chnge the tranny fluid/filter in my LSC this weekend, and was wondering what fluid I should use. I know this has been talked about before, I did a search and read up a little and am now kinda torn between the Mercon V and the Type F. I had used Mercon V when I had my MN-12, didn't have any problems with shifting or slippage afterwards but that was a different tranny. Quote Selected
Tranny Fluid change Reply #1 – September 28, 2010, 08:50:55 PM Use mercron. You can add alittle bit of type f, but I would not run it soley. Quote Selected
Tranny Fluid change Reply #2 – September 28, 2010, 08:56:36 PM I'm not sure if the AOD should be using Mercon V. I seem to remember using Mercon III in my AOD and Mercon V in my 4R70W. Quote Selected

I *think* I have always used the Dexron III/Mercon in my previous (pretty sure, anyway) and don't ever remember having a problem, but didn't know if there was any benefit of using another type. Tranny Fluid change Reply #4 – September 29, 2010, 05:18:46 AM This came up before with a lot of debate. I had asked a few trans guys and got the same answer that mercron V is backwards compatible with older mercron fluids. Quote Selected
Tranny Fluid change Reply #5 – September 29, 2010, 10:48:41 AM Run the Dex/Merc if you can find it -- Mercon V if you can't. Quote Selected
