The next time I have to deal with the chrome world, I will remove the clear plastic cover to expose the shiny chrome under there. Next I would use some high quality clear packing tape and cover the chrome. that would fix the problem for many more years.I dont know if you can get chrome tape in anything but aluminum adhesive rolls like at lows in the plumbing section or as in heat tape. That stuff tends to deform and krinkle when you undo it.You could add chrome painted electrical tape but peeling off the laminate cover would be better,,,maybe,, dono really since i have not completely removed the clear laminate.
