Tranny swapping

I have a 88 Tbird with a 5.0, but the tranny is slipping. Ialso have a 87 Tbird with a 3.8, and the tranny is good. My question is if the tranny behind both motors are the same except the bellhousing. So hopefully if needed I can use the 3.8 tranny behind my 5.0, with a bellhousing swap. Let me know, if anybody else knows.  Thank you

Are you 100% positive?  I recall someone on here using a 3.8 tranny without any problems.  If it's an AOD it's an AOD, right?

The NA 3.8 trans has one less foward clutch than a 5.0/5.8 trans. But still its gonna be a bunch better tha any slipping 5.0 tranny. The 3.8 Super Coupe trans I have, is actually a little stronger than a 5.0 trans...
