Yes, Shawn. I've now lost my TurboCoupe fever. Forever. I just did the fuel filter the other day, as Shawn said. And my TC regained accelleration above 4k RPM's. The old filter was of Motorcraft vitage and had almost rusted through. So, since then everything has been good. Until today.

I was rolling through a parking lot, hit a speed bump and I heard the gas tank hit the ground. I knew what it was as soon as I'd heard it. So I got outta the car, walked back to Dollar General, where my girlfriend Ashlie works, to use the bathroom. Then I called AAA on my way back to get a tow. I told 'em what happened and that I'd need a flat bed. So, I'm standing by the car for a while, waiting. Then I see a fire truck roll up... I thought "oh, you've got to be shiznitting me..." Guy gets out and says "someone called and said there was a car parked here, leaking gas.." I guess I must look like a terrorist with a car bomb or something. Anyway, they looked at it and realized it only lost a little bit of gas and they went on thier way. About 10 minutes later the tow truck shows up, of course, not a flatbed, but a regular truck with a wheel lift and a boom. So I had to reach under the car and at this point I was so pissed I just snapped the steel llines off the top of the tank (if they were that rusted then they weren't worth reusing anyway. I figured "At least the electrical plug is still in good shape" but nope... tugged on it and all four wires pulled out. Somehow the plastic plug turned into a pile of rubbery goo. Junkyard time I guess.

So now I'm left with this car with no gas tank or straps. My ONLY running car, that is. I'm gonna have to go into AutoHole and order the pump/strainer/hanger kit which HOPEFULLY includes the hanger I need. I already have the tank part taken care of in that I had to do this same fvcking repair on my '84 Cougar. Probably sand the surface rust off of the cougar tank and flush it out with some fresh gas and spray it with some paint. I'll also have to order straps from AZ and then get creative with some holes in the trunk and some all-thread rod to hold the front half of the tank up. Sheesh... I have bad luck with cars.

Another interesting thing to note... I've only had this car since the 15th or so.
