Have another question for you guys...

If you could choose between a 351 and 460 (out of a truck) for your fox, Which would you choose?

Wow, a 460 weighs 720 pounds.
in stock form potentially has 100 more torque, and about 50 more horses...
Aftermarket looks weaker than a 351...
Gas mileage is terrible...

All in All i think the 351 would be better in the long run than the 460~What do you guys think?

I ask this because the man i got the 351 said he was getting a 460 in the next few days, and asked if i wanted it instead.

351, mainly because of the aftermarket support as opposed to a 460.

Stick with the 351. Looks like you already have one. Throw a rebuild at it and call it good.

351. Gas mileage and parts.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Yeah, I too would stay with the 351w.
To attain what you'd most likely want out of the 460, you'd probably want to drop at least a grand into it, as the stock truck engines don't like high rpm's. For that matter a 351w doesn't as much, but at least it's lighter, and cheaper to modify.

Bigger is not always better ;)

Haha, Thats what i figured.
Thanks guys.

The 351 is in awesome shape, I turned it over manually and it turns extremely nice and smooth.

Apparently the guy couldnt find anyone looking for a 351 locally, which is pretty odd to me.
Held onto it for a couple years after pulling it from the 92 bronco that he parted because it had trans problems, And he couldnt afford to deal with it.
He was just about to take it over to the s metal recycler and be done with it.

its not as complete as it once was due to the fact he was pulling things to get it ready for s, But its mostly there and looks great.

I need to call and ask if he still has the Injectors, Distributor, Water Pump, MAF stuff.

It won't have a MA meter, as the 351w were all SD.
If he doesn't have the injectors anymore, just grab some 19 pounders from an HO, as it's what the 351 should have had. I'd probably err on the side of caution, and grab a nw water pump, timing chain and gears, and probaby an oil pump as well, plus the required gaskets, and it looks like it's gonna need intake gaskets anyway. ;)

As far as a dizzy goes, IIRC the windsor will use a different drive gear than a 302, so make sure you get one for the 351.
And you can probably find a real cheap set of factory HO valve covers too, look 10 times better than those shiznitty, pr0ne-to-leak stamped steel things lol.

Wish I could find a decent 351w...I have a 4bbl intake and a carb
