My dog got in a s with something wild

I'd say muskrat....looks like something with canine teeth bit your pup...and beaver have teeth like rabbits.
Muskrat will sometimes bite pretty mean to defend..he may have grabbed one, and it grabbed him right back, lol

Hope he stays clean (no infections)

Coyotes are everywhere in the US...if you havn't seen one...you need to open your eyes. And they will attack humans for no apparent reason. Don't believe what the media says about their fear of people...sometimes even a lowly coyote can have a pissy day. ;)

Last summer we came across a coyote in our back yard, crouching in the grass. didn't see it until we were about 100' from it. My dog just stopped and stared at it. the coyote just calmly got up and ran into the woods. I'm pretty sure it was a scout.

Here's My baby stalking the dog next door last Saturday

We don't have no stinkin' coyote around here. We do have deer, rapuppiess, skunks, black bear, opossums, bobcats and such. You guys have all the fun.

My aunt and uncle live in Vail, Colorado.  Came home one day to a mountain lion laying on a tanning chair on their back porch.  Chewing a big bone, nonetheless...

Sorry to hear about Oz.  Our cat likes to fight cars.  He's been hit twice now.

Thanks everybody. He's doing fine. So well, in fact, that the second we let him off his leash yesterday, he ran down to the brook and towards the dam. I had to call him out of the woods twice last night. Oz just isn't a fast learner. :P

I was looking through the encyclopaedia last night to see what a beaver paw would look like. Looks like it fits the bill perfectly.

And Oz is a medium-large dog. Not as husky as my Shepherd, but almost as tall. I think he's part Stafordshire. About the same size as the average local Coyote.

For everyone saying he looks ashamed, that's what Oz always looks like. Ashamed anyway. There's also the matter of being very stoned, since they put him under when they stitched him up. But he's a rescue from a shelter in Amherst, NS. When they picked him up, they said he had been running wild for a few weeks, which is why he's such a woods dog and a bane to our compost pile. Since day one, he cowers when I, or any other man, stands over him. If you lean down to pet him, he pees. I recently noticed that if he's standing next to me and I nudge him out of the way with my knee, he'll jump away from me. Buffy just walks out of the way, but Oz bounds sideways to cover his rump. I have the feeling he's gotten a boot to the ribs more than once. It explains him being wild when they found him. I wouldn't stick around for that either.

He sounds like one of our other dogs. Just stubborn.
Glad he's doing good.

2 of our cats recently got tore up by some "hobo cats" that just showed up one night , well it went a week till i noticed that my cat was getting mad about us picking him up then he would just sit down in place. So at 9 am in the morning after work i had to take my cat into the vets. Well my girlfriend was over that weekend and noticed that he had some clotted hair on his head, i started to examine it then it popped off and started leaking puss all over the place. Then i found that his cheek also had puss in it so i had to squeeze that out too. The stuff was septic because it reeked.

I really hope that your dog gets better soon it is a beautiful dog.
