They were only $19,995 brand new.

There's a ton of them here. It's just a lot of them have been wrecked, beat on, or stupidly modified.

I want a stock one.

I seen the ass of that Javelin again the other day and took note of the color, it’s Orange, so then I Googled for what I could find out about colors on the Jav’s. I found limited info on it, but on this page http://www.javelinamx.com/JavHome/basics/basics.htm it list a “Big Bad” series of the Javelin for 1969 and 1970 only.

1969 'Big Bad' Javelin (includes 'Mod' Javelin): Orange=941; Green=876; Blue=465
1969 'Big Bad' AMX model (includes 'California 500' AMXs): Orange=283; Green=284; Blue=176
And
The 'Big Bad AMX' and 'Big Bad Javelin', available in Blue, Green and Orange, carried into 1970 also, tho only the '69 versions had painted bumpers instead of chrome.

1970 'Big Bad' Javelin model: Orange=60; Green=N/A; Blue=N/A
1970 'Big Bad' AMX model: Orange=122; Green=74; Blue=114

I’m going to take note of the bumper for chrome or not next time I see it that should distinguish between the two years I think I have narrowed it down to.
I can’t find anything stating those were the ONLY orange ones offered. But if so then that a pretty rare ride!

But buy his Pacer that way that Jav may still be there in 10+ years when I get rich a famous and can buy a toy. /wink

AMC had a "regular" Orange in 70 too Jim ;)

That was what I grew up with, an Orange 1970 Javelin SST 360/Auto with the 1/2 vinyl top (black) and a black vinyl interior.

My dad drove that thing until it rusted itself away (Florida beach car).

Then he had a 1970 Javelin Mark Donahue 360/Auto in Black/Black that got t-boned.

Then came the Red/White/Blue Trans Am Javelin look-alike (it was a real Red/Red Mark Donahue 390/4-Speed).

I guess that's why I like Javelins?

Get an SRT-4. Is there anything out there that will run 11's for as little money?

We started looking at bigger 2-doors. Trying to find a fun 4-door at a reasonable price is like trying to find Cougar convertible...

Find one of these by you (I tried but couldn't :hick: ): http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=225465527&dealer_id=72170&car_year=2004&model=MARAUDER&num_records=25&systime=1196709186396&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=&make=MERC&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=60638&advanced=&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=21&superSpotlight=

$7,000 out of my price range.

And the SRT4 I'm looking at has 1/2 the miles.

i drove one and it was nice... boosted quick.

I took off in 1st spinning went to slam into 2.nd and the shifter  came off and i punched myself in the leg and hit my keys so my leg was a little numb. fun car though. just didnt seem soild to me. i dont know. I drove a WRX after and it drove better but they don't boost for a long ass time. I would still drive a SRT-4

I dunno fellas...I ain't sayin they're slow, I've seen a few of those boosted ones over in town whoopin it up on other cars...
But the Neon I drove belonged to a friend, she bought it new, and man oh man, was that thing ever an under-engineered POS.
Rattles, squeaks, stuff falling apart, weak brakes..etc etc.

But to keep it in perspective, that was when Plymouth first started making them.

There was a fella here that had a sig that said:
Fast, Cheap, Reliable. Pick two.
To me it sums up the Neon..whatever version it is.
I guess that's how I feel about 'em after watching my friend's Neon toast itself in her driveway...and that was after the transmission and then the eec went out of it.
