Unknown "tining" noise....very confusing Reply #19 – May 10, 2007, 07:45:54 PM Use a long screwdriver with the big end up to your ear.....Makeshift stethescope. Use it to try and locate the rattle. I found out that my starter's front bushing was about toast, and between 2100 to 3000 rpms i got a VERY annoying rattle. It was the last thing I expected it to be. I would check that first to eliminate it as a possibility. Putting the car on a lift is very helpful. that way the car can be revved by an assistant and eveyone stays safe. Quote Selected
