Its not so bad when u think about it most of the guys doing it are getting these cars out of junk yards. Its just another way of using the car up personally I cant stand seeing them made into drag cars I think its a waste to put a car in a straight line for a few seconds. Just my oppinion but these cars belong on tracks with corners their a great platform to start with.
ive only seen 5 fox body tbirds on a dirt track and one cougar. just be glad you arent into restoring metric gm cars they have a great aftermarket just good luck finding a solid shell lol.
Hey guys its been awhile well I have yet another fox body question. Most of you will be glad to hear im not tearing up another tbird for the dirt track. The newest victim is a 87 mustang gt and i couldnt find a descent stang forum. How much power with the quad shock 8.8 hold? I bumped up to the outlaw class and have a 550hp(roughly) 383chevy with turbo 350 trans. I was told the quad shock would help with wheelspin and i cant find a company that sells just the brackets to put a 9 inch in the fox chassis. I plan to run a 12 inch wide hoosier sprint car tire on the rear so traction should be fine.
a bbf motors are heavy extremely heavy......... ur going to need stiffer front springs unless u plan on bottoming out .id go to a bare minimum of 800lbs front springs and those are going to be very soft for a bbf and c6(assumption) if its a overdrive trans i would start with 900. they sell swap kits for the mustang but it really is a bd idea if u ask most i mean bad mileage in the best case scenario, more nose weight, makes changing spark plugs a trick houdini would cringe at. when u can build a sbf cheaper anyway its smarter.
how hard is it to put a gm engine into a foxbird? My dirt track chicken has shelled 2 motors in the stock division and a friend of mine has a highly modifed 383 and th350 trans im thinking about puttin it in my car if i cant get a dirt mod chassis. the mounting is the only question exhaust and wiring are no big deal
i run a driveshaft loop on my car but its homemade fron 3 inch flat steel rolled and welded to the frame rails with 3 inch band and depending on your rules and type of racing is where you decide to put the loop its good to have one on the front of the driveshaft but i have a second one about halfway down the driveshaft as well incase the rear u joint fails..
correct me if im wrong but the bird was powered by a old school 350 sbc with nitrous if i remember right. I changed the channel when i saw that. If im wrong and it was ford powered sweet but i dont promote cross bredding lol.
Hey guys i got a question for yall. i got an 84 tbird that ive been racing and its killing my wallet lately so ive been thinking of gettin out of it but no one around here wants a ford stock car for the same reason that bugging me their expensive. So anyway would anyone be interested in parting the car out on here for the aftermarket parts on here. It would be soley suspension parts with no interior or body panels. it has a fair amount of aftermarket parts like springs, bumpsteer kit, 5 lug rotors,sn95 rearend. just lemme know if anyone would be interested i havent made my mind up yet so who knows.
Its dumb ideas like this which give the rest of the younger car enthusiasts a bad reputation. want a turbo 6 cylinder go for it its not that odd hell ive seen a turbo 6 banger in a 71 monty carlo and to throw it way out there it was a 12 valve cummins motor. sadly the only way you could really think about getting good fuel mileage out of a 500 horse motor was if it was a 250-300 hp motor with a shot of nitrous and in which case your prlly going to fry the motor.
You know Im a young guy at 19 but I have to say I dont understand the rest of the population my age. I mean every kid thinks he needs a fast car with all the bells and whistles. My favorite vehicle ive owned was a very plain 71 ford f250 with a 300 6 4 speed and the only optional equipment was power brakes. No power steerin, windows, locks, AC hell it had the original vinyl bench seat at topped out at 67mph not because of a rev limiter but the redline but that old truck drew more attention than any other ive seen in a long time just b/c it was "unmolested" as one old timer put it. anway im getting off topic i think until u can afford to do all the mods yourself you should be driving a unmolested car and dont forget one factor here Speeding tickets suck
racing is worse than crack i work my ass off just to get there for a few minutes of fun. i wish i could quit but the shiznit is to addictive and i lack the self control lol.
