I'll have to take a closer look at the car tomorrow when I get some time off! So far I've just had time to drive the car around a little bit and test out the windows / top. Haven't tried playing with the top boot yet, but I want to say just from memory there's no snaps around the back part. From the inside, the car seems to identical to the '84 convertible pics you have on your website.
If you'd like, I can drop the booklet in the mail for you. I flipped through it quickly, seems kinda generic (nothing Cougar specific in there I think). Would definitely be better in your hands, I'm pr0ne to losing things / forgetting about stuff ... probably inhaled too many gas fumes growing up.
PS - Have you seen increases in web site traffic since that Tiger King came out? ("Hey all you cool cats and kittens ... ")
Stumbled across this one in Iowa unexpectedly. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, but knew it should be in the Fox T-Bird / Cougar community! 1984, V8, 62,200 miles. Has been repainted; Car Craft door tag is missing. Feels like I'm driving around in a large, noisy bowl of Jell-O but it's a blast!
Just went with Hagerty a couple weeks ago for the 1988 Cougar, insured in Delaware. Limited to shows, occasional recreational use, etc. Similar situation as you, the car sits around for weeks at a time and got tired of making insurance changes every time I wanted to take it for a spin (legally ).
Went with $3500 value (minimum allowed) and $500 deductible (maximum allowed). Paying approximately $8 per month. I do have another car insured with them, which might affect the rate.
If you go with Hagerty, they automatically enroll you in their "Hagerty Driver's Club" which has some perks, which I think most people don't really need. Don't forget to cancel that if you do go with Hagerty ($45/year).
Wasn't able to post on the TCCOA board, so if you know anyone on that forum that may be interested please let them know.
Set of 4 30th Anniversary Cougar wheels, for for pickup to good home - located in Wilmington, DE 19803. Nice condition, some clear coat problems. I did have 3 center caps for them, but I can't seem to locate them. If I find them I'll throw them in as well.
October is booked full, but after that (and pretty much all of 2019) I should be free. The Cougar is just sitting there collecting dust (and mold - ack!) and slowly dripping fluids all over the garage. I suppose it's time to renew the AAA membership. :hick:
Would really like to catch up with you guys, it's been way too long.
Good God dude. Why the hell did you move to the other side of the bay?
You are right, it's been way too long.
Well, figured I'd give it a shot and there was a pretty nice job available. Plus, building a 10-car garage might actually be possible out here in farm country lol :)
Hey! This is awesome to hear, great news with the car, the house and everything. Us Maryland guys should get together again sometime, it's been way too long.
A little off topic, but in addition to the reliability there's also the safety factor. A drunk driver plowed into me a year ago and my head would have gone through the window if it hadn't been for the side-curtain airbags. Never even saw it coming and definitely wouldn't have walked away if I was driving the Cougar at the time. With all the texting / drunk idiots on the roads these days, a car payment is worth it in my opinion.
Should be $25 shipped for the mirror and the center caps. As you can see in the pics, there are some small dents in the center caps and the mirror has paint coming off. PM me your address or any other questions. Thanks!
I picked this up 10+ years ago and forgot about it until this thread. I seem to recall it being the seat frame for TCs and mustangs, but then again I've never seen the guts of either of those seats so I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone verify this as the right part? If someone can use it, I can send it their way.
Hey 50RACER, if jcassity doesn't need that interior, I might be interested so put me next in line. Thanks!
Maybe kinda gimmicky? And doesn't seem to have any real-world reviews. But I'll probably give it a shot at some point as a plan B if flooding happens and I can't get the cars to high ground.
