I have a 1988 LS Cougar. It is a Canadian car that spent its first 11 years wintering in Tucson Arizona. and has never seen salt in Canada. I am 3rd owner on the car, 1st owner was Ford of Canada-rep, 2nd was my father-it was his retirement car from Ford. It has 125000 miles on it, factory 5.0, redone and brought up to 93 Mustang specs-approx. 300 hp, factory moon roof, console w/floorshift, climate control, power driver seat/windows and locks, original Premium Sound Sys that still works like new, 8.8 Turbo Coupe rear end w/disk brakes. It is not perfect-some dings and scratches, but original body and paint that still shines like brand new. Car is still in Canada, north of Toronto Ontario. its not really a recomended thing to do...i have been advised against dropping it down to 2nd:beatyoass: ...its very hard on AOD's...but it had to be done for the dyno!!!:flip:
Thanks for the great tips...she's going in for some exhaust work this week , will check it then!! All u-joints have been done, just havent checked balance on it! I do get some of the same vibration at an idle, tried shutting off the engine at hwy speed sat., but it didnt change!!
just new to this , so please be paitient with me...I've had an '88 Cougar LS 5.0 w/AOD since '99, got it from my Dad when he could'nt drive anymore...anyway, it's had a travelling vibration from day one for me...at Hwy speed it will run through the car from front to back/back to front...the steering wheel vibrates up and down along with the dash...i've had 4 different sets of rims & tires on it...checked and replaced every bearing...checked axles for true...it has been suggested that maybe it is Harmonic Balancer or Flywheel....HELP!! Does anyone have any thoughts??
