The rarest of the rare! If we were to break it all down what would be the rarest T-bird and rarest Cougar 83-88. You know the Holy Grail of these cars? Does anyone know?
I've been looking into putting a big front mount inter cooler on my 84 Turbo coupe. I have a good Idea of what I want but not sure of what size will fit and not cause any bad performance. I know go ask at turbo ford right? Wrong they will just tell me there isn't one to big! Yeah right I know there is a good balance in the setup. Also you have to be able to fit it into the car. Anyone here put one on there car. What size and how did it fit. Also did it make any thing worse off than before. I was thinking a big 31"x12"x3" would do nicely. I do have a t3/T4 ready to blow a lot of air. Need to get this figured out so I can put the non turbo hood on before painting.
I've been working on making a custom grill for my bird. I just started. I was thinking of different centers to put into the grill area. Here are some pics of what I've done so far.

I was thinking about a mesh style grill. I've also thought about a tube style. Anyone have any Ideas what else might look good.
I'm looking for the front passenger side trim piece that goes in front of the front wheel. I need it to be the 83-86 style with the Light cut out. Let me know what you have.
I work at a parts store and we have this on our system at work. So I copied the adddy down and it works at the house so I believe that it is just on the good ole net to everyone. Yesterday on the way home my passenger window wouldn't go back up. So I took the door panel off. I could hear the motor try to move with a click and noticed the power drain on the car. So I just tapped the motor with a screw driver and it went right up. Then on the way to the gas station I tried to roll it back down and nothing. So my question is can you use the motor out of the 85-88 cars in the 83-84cars. The ones in my 84 look alot bigger than the ones I took out of my 88 cougar. So does anyone know if I can use the 88 motor in the 84? They look to bolt up the same and have the same lookig gear.
I'm looking at the exhust for my 84 turbo coupe. I was thinking about running it stright back the passenger side, But Those damm fuel lines. Anyone ever move them to the other side of the car? I went to a couple of exhust shops and they wouldn't put the exhust stight back because of the fuel lines. I was thinking about just rotating the pump/sender part in the tank and reroute the lines on the driver side of the car. I would also have to move the external booster pump that my 84 has factory. Does anyone know of a reason that I should run the fuel lines down the dirver side of the car? Just trying to Strighten things out. Why we have fuel lines and Exhust switching from side to side on these Turbo coupes is Weird. The fuel lines go up the passenger side of the car to cross over to driver side for the fuel rail. The the exhust starts on the passenger side and then crossesover to the driver sides because of the fuel lines? The is just messed up. Any input guys/gals?
My 84 has been bucking when I really get on to it. I checked the codes KOEO= 11 All ok. Then KOEr= 17 lean or rich did say witch. SO I check the Fuel pressure 39psi with the hose of. I install a new TPS and set it to .97 The timing is dead on 10* BTDC. While I install a new dimmer I also put in a new ignition switch just incase that might have had something to do with it. Still nothing it bucks anytime I give it more that 1/3- 1/2 throttle. I still build boost but it buck bad. I also had sorta a miss with light throttle around 2000RPM. That doesn't seem to happen since the TPS swap. I did change the plugs and cap and rotor about a week ago trying to figure this out. Any one have any Ideas?
I was out working on the bird earlier. I put in the new dimmer switch and got my low beams back. So while I had it all apart I installed the relay for the auto on/off headlights. I checked the old relay and it didn't switch on and off. So the new one should make it work. I plugged it in and the parking lights came on. The car was off and the auto switch was in the off posistion. THe head lights were off also. Anytime the relay is pluged in the parkling lights are on but no headlights. Also when I do turn the auto lights switch on and cover the sensor the headlights still don't come on. Yes the catr was turned on during the last test. Does anyone have any ideas on where to start. Also does anyone have the wiring diagrams for this. I looked in my chilton and Haynes and found nothing. So if anyone can and wants to please help.
It happened to me for the 2nd time. Tonight I went into Branson to meet the wife and Kids for a Eagles Concert. "The wifes work is connected to the Grand Palace Theater so we got FREE TIckets. Had a grat time but on the way home my low beams went out. Damm Had to drive 13miles home through B-town traffic with the highbeams on like a damm tourist. When I first got in the car and turned on the lights the headlights flickered once. So I fliped the Dimmer from low to high and then back to low. All seemed well, but about 4 blocks later the lowbeams were gone. I did feel a weird click when I fliped the dimmer before. So I flipped the dimmer again and still highs but no lows. I'm Thinking that the dimmer ed out again.Damm it. That is a Borg Warner select part. I guess I need to do a headlight wiring upgrade complete with relays and Real 10Ga wire not the py stock stuff. Also the spare 10ga is that I have for it is that Car Stereo multi multi stranded stinger power wire. Is that over kill? I'm guessing that it is recomended that I use 1 relay per headlight filiment? I guess I should add a relay to the Fog's at the same time. Anyone have any pointers on how to do this. I also might do that corner light mod. I have an 84 with the 194 corner bulbs so it sounds easy.
I was cleaning out Da Bird yesterday and the Passenger side floor was wet. Not a little wet but soaked. I suck about two quarts of liquid out of the carpet and pad with a shop vac. So my first thought was Heater core leak or the heater case drain was pluged. I couldn't find any signs of it comeing from the heater box area. The drain was open and the water level was full. So maybe a windshield leak? I had it replace just last OCT! Anyone have any other ideas?
What years came with the clear bumper lights? I thought that it was 83 but while washing my 84 I found that the bumper lights say 83 on them. Are the clear ones from something older. Like say the Box birds or some other ford product? I know I've plenty of 83's with them but I'm sure that ford put them on something else. Does anyone know?
