Start up, open headers (1 5/8th equal length long tube, 3 inch dump) Not sure why my Dad is reving the shiznit out of it but *shrug* guess 5 year old in him was calling since I had it on vid View My Video
Idle vid, I know its rough but I live 3 hours away from it and when I do visit I usually just drive it. Next step is to clean it up inside and out, right now its function over form. View My Video
After driving this for about a year I didn't like it. Either no power or 3k rpm and balls to the wall insanity. All the wiring in this car is trash as well and I always wanted to build a car that was "mine" pretty much from the ground up so I started with a motor of the least logical places to start . I reused my C4 I built with a full manual VB, below is build pics.
From a 90 mustang GT.
Goodies to make her breath (AFR 185 heads 58cc)
Stick with Bumps on it
Billet HEI Distributor
Home for all goodies
Stroker crank in new home, if you look at the skirts you can see where I clearanced it. The block has no paint on it as it was literally 15 degrees in the garage when I built the motor.
Stroker guts plus Timing Gears
Belly up, the relocator went away, was originally going to run remote for cooling but ended up sing.
Finished product. Only took about 3 days after I finally started.
Bored so writing a little thread on my car, Then and Now.
Long time ago my dad bought an 88 TC, I was told if I helped him rebuild the motor I could have it for my first car. Well we got it together and long story short he liked it alot and I ended up with a 81 el camino..... After working my first job though I found this.
She was apart and had been for a couple years in a barn. I got that car and
For 800. The blue one had a rebuilt motor and just had all new interior done for it.
So I drove and and loved it, and eventually upgraded it.
.30 over block with Crower Rods and Diamon pistons, hand ported NA head that I machined the chambers on the head out to a whatever turbo heads CC was (don't remember been awhile.) Also ported head, upper, and lower intake with 65mm TB and Bo-Port 1.5 cam.
Some megasquirt Intercooler Shifter Torque Converter New Turbo, had to rebuild Action shot Pic before I cleaned everything up, just got it running
Also were is the relay for the dinger? I'll try changing it first. I think I'm going to have to break down and pull the dash out, I'm pretty sure it was apart before I got the car and no telling what I might find.
Sorry should of said earlier, replaced ignition switch at time of harness fire. I figured that is what casued it. If it was the Turn signal switch then my outside blinkers wouldn't work either would they? Also the hi beam indicator doesn't work. I know the bulbs are good in the cluster.
Seperate questions: My car also has the electronic temp controls and when I start the car if it has sat for more than a few days, the blower kicks on high unless I turn it off.
The silence reaffirms my fear that this is going to be a painful project. My over all goal is to build this car to what I want it to do. I just ordered couple hundred dollars worth of suspension goodies, AOD is next, and in between gathering parts for Fuel Injection. Would I be better off Rewiring it with a universal summit harness since 90% of the factory systems are going away? Teeves Brakes are so far the only thing on my car that kinda sorta works, ABS is a no go. Might do VAC brake conversion in the near future.
x2 for deeper alum pan, mine leaked all the time and I found one of the lips was rolled down slightly. I tried straightening it but it would still drip a little.
Do you guys have a recommendation on what to glue the window back to the track? My bird does get drove alot and likes to form a dirts seal or something to the rubber stripping and rips the C clamp plastic thing off the window. I glued it with some kind of windshield installer once already and it happened again this summer.
I have 3.73 with a c4, first gear is a joke and if I had OD it would probably be fine. I had several v8 foxes and pretty much all were 2.73, biggest jump I did on those was 3.27 which actually gave me better mpg. Guessing it helped the motor not lug as much.
I know it sounds silly but I'm afraid I'll start doing the swap for fuel injection and get in over my head. Besides the intake and injectors are smaller than what I need, with Intake + throttle body + injector cost, then quarter horse and whatever others I need (laptop but I can get a super cheap one I'm sure) I'm probably not terribly far form 2944 for the mass flo.
Not sure what you swap is but saw the "fuel pump not running after the swap" I did 331 swap and my fuel pump wouldn't run either, had something to do with EEC not knowing the engine was running, would prime but not run. I ended up getting fuel pump relay from summit and wiring it up that way. Works like a champ now.
Whites performance 1 (ebay store) has mini starters like this, I've bought 3 and had good luck with them, 49 dollars apiece. One is like 3 inches from my headers and been performing faithfully for 1 year with several long drives. Factory starter would get hot and not work till cooled off.
