LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / Poor ...

" have seen them with 100000+ miles for more" where the hell is he looking?

I  kinda thought the same thing. Maybe he got his zeros mixed up? Maybe he's working off of the old premise that "there's a sucker born every minute"? Who  knows? But if he thinks he's actually going to get that  much money? ...off of Craigslist, no less?... he's definitely swimming in  Lake Silly!

But, now, if he had a 68 Barracuda Square-back similar to this one with only 40,000 miles on it, that would be a BARGAIN!**

**Disclaimer:
I'm not saying the one in the picture only has 40,000 miles on it. That link is just an illustration. The reason that I bring it up is that I have a friend who has one that is still all original and it only has 40,000 on it. It's been appraised at $18,000.

Actually, just for a daily driver, that 88 T-Bird doesn't look all that bad.It is definitely something that can be restored rather easily by comparison with some cars that age with more miles.

It looks better than my Kitty!
But she has over 3 times as many miles, and has suffered the neglect of the previous owner, too.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / There's still octane rating of 115?????
WOW! Big B. Here in the Kansas City Metro there hasn't been any such thing as 115 in many, many years! Just 87, 89 & 93...I THINK!! LOL!

I used to have a 1971 AMC Ambassador Police Special back in the early 80s that would NOT even run on anything less than that PREMIUM, baby!
When I had my 67stangfastback inline 6 from the mid 90s to early 2000s, it ran just fine on the cheapest stuff I could find. Now, my 88 Cougar 3.8 will run ~ok~ on the cheap stuff, but better on mid-grade, of course. It makes little difference on premium grade, though. But it absolutely HATES ethanol!!!! My full-size 89 Bronco 4x4, on the other hand, is an absolute alcoholic! But it's somewhat similar to the Kitty when it comes to gasoline grades. But, it does do MUCH better on Premium. I guess that's what I get for breaking that brand NEW 302 in on Premium, eh? LOL!

the wiring diagrams in the 87EVTM are 95% a perfect match to your 88 car in the meantime.

Kewl! TYVM, there jcassity. When I get ready to suss out the problem I have with the dash gauges lieing to me I'll likely need these tools.

Thank you, too, TheFoeYouKnow.

But, I don't have any torrent software installed on my 'puter. This  is really the first time I've had any real use for it. I don't normally  download stuff from torrents....wouldn't even know how.
Thank you for the thought and link, though.

oh, by the way,
you have wiring diagrams now as well for your car,,
several of us have EVTM links in our signatures

Thank you, jcassity for that info. I have already tried several times to download the 88 EVTM by "thefoeyouknow" but each time I did I got this:

Has anyone any ideas of what is up with that?

Welcome to the Board :D There's a lot of good folks here. Pics of your car would be oh so appreciated  :rollin:

Thank you for the 'welcome', 1BadBird. Yep, that starving cat/bird fanciers' comment struck me as rather comical, too! LOL!

As for pics, my digital camera died, so I can't post pics until I can borrow another digital camera. I'll try to get some pics to post as soon as I can.

Actually, my avatar IS Kitty's sail panel. I took that pic and made that avatar back in 2007 when I first joined this forum. But, I didn't log in for a couple of years and lost my account here until October of 2011 when I explained my situation to the moderators and got my account here back.

At any rate, I must warn you that Kitty is only a diamond in the rough. She needs a bit of body work. Although she is now my daily driver, she does need some mechanical and other attention that I'm only slowly able to afford. Once she is 100% mechanically sound, I have a friend who is a body man who is going to do the body and paint for me at cost of materials. I hope to have her completely done within the next 2 - 4 years....or, at least, that is my "fantasy" (if you will) for right now.

start a thread in the wanted section with your wish list...
you may not have a budget but you might have trading power,,,, you never know..
heck, someone may need a couple dozen cookies!!  we go purdy hungry around here hunting parts.

if your situation allows for it, perhaps you need a doner car to park on your property that mirrors or matches your car as best as possible.
relatively speaking whole cars like ours are not all that hard to find.

Thanks for the feedback, jcassity. I'm gonna get that "wish list" out here as soon as I have the money to  actually buy what is found/offered as it is found/offered.

You see, I'm waiting  for the Social Security Administration to turn loose of my Widow's  Benefits. Once that happens, I'll be able to grab whatever shows up as  soon as it shows up. Unfortunately, the judge presiding over my case  still has a couple of months to drag his feet, maybe longer, before  being compelled to make a decision. (I'm having to sue because I'm under  60, but am disabled. It's long to explain and longer to process. I've  already been at this for over a year.) Once he makes the decision that I  can have my late hubbie's money, it can take up to another 9 months to  actually get my back pay. Once I get that lump sum (beyond my monthly  benefits), I'll have the money to work on the Kitty and my 89 Bronco 4x4  (full size) and to get some property of my own somewhere that I'll be  able to park whatever donor vehicles I need on. But in the mean time,  I'm keeping my ear to the ground and my eyes pealed so that when that  money does come in I'll be able to jump - FAST! ....Or as fast as I can  find what I need, anyway.

Until I can spend my back pay from my  Widow's Benefits I can only nickel and dime my way by only getting what I  absolutely have to have to keep Kitty on the road because right now I'm  only getting SSI, which is NOT very much. Unfortunately, the  Bronco is undrivable (needs a front transmission seal - won't keep  tranny fluid IN) and I don't have anything else to drive but Kitty.

So, you see, unfortunately, my situation is not very similar to some of the other members here who have plenty of re$ource$.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Thank you jcassity and vinnie
Thank you, both, for welcoming me.

Shopping in the parts for sale section to help keep my kitty alive is one of the reasons why I'm here.

Unfortunately, I've had zero luck in any of my local yards and little to no luck anywhere else. That is another reason why I'm here. You all know more than I do. In addition to picking yards, I'll be picking your brains, as well! LOL!

Because I'm on a rather limited budget I have to spend my money very  deliberately. At this point, I can only wish that I could stockpile  parts. Financially speaking, I'll be doing very well just to be able to  get the parts that Kitty absolutely has to have. ...Like the passenger  side parking light lens that blew off day before yesterday and was gone  ...FOREVER... before I knew what had happened, for instance.

I  do know that the longer I wait the less likely I'll be able to find  certain, and it looks like, most parts. I've already ran into that,  which is another reason why I'm here.

Thank you so very much for your quick response, BornInAFord. I guess that's one of the plethora of reasons why parts are so hard to get a hold of. Sad, sad video.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Help?
I don't know where y'all want this question asked, but I need to know where my Cougar was made. As in what plant. The VIN is: 1MEBM6044JH688010. I have done all sorts of internet searches to no avail. I guess I just don't know the right term to use.

Can someone help me figure out where to go to find out this info?

Thank you for any and all help you can give me. @};--
