Engine or Tranny issue August 11, 2006, 07:52:41 AM I have a 85 5.0 and when I shift into OD the car jerks pretty hard (whenever it doesn't stall). It doesn't jerk that way in reverse or neutral. I don't think it does it D or 1 either. I hope I don't have to pay for a new transmission cuz I can't afford it right now. I'd be greatful to just find out why it stalls when I shift into gear when I don't let it run forever idling. I have replaced Coolant Temp Sensor, Starter Switch (sometimes it won't turn over either), Spark Plugs, The wires look decent so I haven't changed those, the distributor cap is in good shape also.Help me please...... Engine or Tranny issue Reply #1 – August 11, 2006, 12:32:27 PM check your tv cable. it runs from the throttle body to the tranny. its possible that the cable is too tight causing hard shifting. and if you run the tranny without that tv cable you will make short order of your tranny. and what is the car ideling at? that could affect when you shift into gear. if idle is too low when parked when you go to shift it can make the car stall cuz idle is too slow. so check the tps or even the tfi on the distributor. and clean out your iac. Engine or Tranny issue Reply #3 – August 11, 2006, 09:56:53 PM What sucks about my car is that I can't tell what it idles at. I have a digital speedo, buttstuffog temp gauge, and buttstuffog fuel gauge. Thats it. I'll try my hand at locating and cleaning the IAC, locating and adjusting (if possible) the TPS and let you guys know what happens. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!! Quote Selected
