Creative uses for the air pump?

I have my air pump disconnected since I really don't need it anymore.  My emissions garbage is long gone.  I was just thinking about things to do with it since I don't have the time/money to buy the smaller belt so I can remove it completely.  Right now i've got a rubber hose running to the intake can, blowing the excess air into that.  I highly doubt that I'm getting any sort of power gain, but i figure more air can't hurt, right?  Another thing I've thought about is using is as a quasi air conditioning unit.  My a/c compressor is long gone so I was thinking I could hook the air pump up to the condenser and act like an intercooler, then run the hose back through the evaporator.  Would the result be cooler air than what I could achieve just using the plain old vent system?

These are just a couple of (probably) useless ideas.  Feel free to add suggestions for other creative uses or comments as to how stupid I must be to waste time on projects like this :D

1.  Shot Putt
2.  Cannon Ball
3.  Paper weight

Seriously though, you could use it in some sort of vacuum canister application.  I'd thought about it on my car, but it would require a good amount of custom bent tubing.

that bracelet is hot!!!

as for the air pump you could be like the guys in the off road trucks and make it an on board air compreser

Not much use for it other than for emissions.
Seriously though the loss of having it on there has been dyno'd at 1hp.
It will not work as a vacuum pump as it will not pull more than 1" of vac if that in reverse and it does not put out anything that would be boost material.
It won't work as a compressor for a/c either as it doesn't output any real pressure.
It's only use is to send fresh air to the cats, without it the cat's will burn out sooner and emissions will be higher.
Do to there being no real loss though don't waist your money bypassing it and just leave it running the way you have it.

Can you run a new belt routing on a 3.8? When I did the 3G conversion on my '89 Mark, I also took off the air pump and picked up a new belt. (it was about time for a new belt anyway) There was an alternate routing listed on another site, so I used that. But that's for a 5.0. Don't know about an alternate routing for the 3.8.

Actually pull is right.. You could use it to do away with your existing pvc system.. Depending on how much vacuum it will pull.  Cap off your pcv inlet on your t/b or wherever its at.. then plumb some kinda line to the existing pcv location but without the valve.. just a strait shot to the valve cover.  But make sure its the vacuum side of it!!! if not you will be blowing seals and smoke and oil everywhere!  Now again... only if it will pull vacuum.. hook a gauge up too it and see what it will do.  It will work oposite of what an existing pcv system would but thats not entirely bad.. just dont pull to much vacuum on the crankcase.. nothing over 10-12 inches.  I'm actually thinking of doing this myself depending if the vacuum pump can pull a vacuum.. for some reason I'm doubting its ability to pull more than 2-3 inches.. with the pully ratio it has.
