How far down is the pedal going? Didja bleed all four corners? Didja adjust the rear shoes? Didja check the calipers to see if they're seized?

And probably a stupidly simple question: Was the engine running? Without it your braking effort will be very high. Even still, if the pedal seems rock hard with the enine running you may want to check the brake booster and the vacuum lines going to it.

I had the same poblem in both cars, I was told by a mechanic that it was brake booster and they wanted like $300 to do it. But I could tell the brake booster was good because it would make a vaspooge sound when I stepped on the brake. Changed out the master cylinder in both cars, now it is pretty solid. Miles above what it was before.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
