Oh No, Dad wants a SUV !!!

Since my R.I.P Mercury Cougar ´84 is dead, he is driving only trucks and never took the wheel of a car. Now with the F-150 is happy , but some day he was starting to think in the convenience of a suv. I know that everyone and his dog has a SUV. Well, there are no way to stop him in his desire of buy a suv. He wants a truck called " Isuzu Trooper LS" 1996. Is from U.S.A.(build in puppiesan, of course..)  Anyone have heard about this truck ???. I have done some research and i get specifications, but i want personal experiences about having one of these. Any help would be veeeeeery apreciated. Thank You....

I worked as a mechanic at an Isuzu dealer and I can only say "RUN AWAY!!!!!". Those things were absolute JUNK! They were rustbuckets (probably not a big problem down there in Mexico) and mechanically they were the shiznits. You wouldn't believe what you have to do to one just in general maintenance to keep it on the road!

I'd reccomend checking into stationwagons or minivans.  They'll give you the same convenience, better performance, and be better on gas.  Since most SUV's only off-roading is limited to jumping the curb into the cut grass at a store or mall, the longer travel suspension is really not needed.  Plus most of the SUVs produced are on a car chassis anyway, might as well go for the lower wind resistance body of a car.
