What tires to get?

Hey guys, I just ordered a set of Turbines off Ebay. I was just wondering what size tires you guys think look best on these rims. I want to give my 88 Cougar a wider stance look. Thanks for any suggestions or comments.

A couple things I didn't like about 255s on my Turbines. One, it looks way taller with all that meat back there. And two it handled like . My steering went from crisp to floaty boaty. The aspect (sp?) ratio isn't really available to cure number one and would prolly fix number two as well.

But interestingly enough, I put them on my friends stang (they were on my stang at first) and his car handled better. =/

I have BF Goodrich Traction T/As on my Turbines. 225/60/15. It's kind of silly but I like the tread design, looks aggressive. I have had them for 3 years now and put at least 40,000 miles on them. They still have a lot of tread left. It's hard to beat their price too - $73 at tirerack.

They are much better than a set of Firestone Firehawks that I had before. With those just a little rain made it feel like I was driving on ice. I actually hydroplaned a 360 while doing only 25 mph around a curve. Miraculously I didn't hit the curb and noone was coming the other way.

I had a set of Firehawks (the old ones with the 200 treadwear rating) on my Mustang a couple years back. I got em cheap from tirerack because they were on sale. Great grip, but they ended up lasting me less than 10K miles. I wasn't very happy about that.

I just put a set of Traction T/As on my TC last summer, but I haven't driven it enough with them on to say if I really like them though.

Also I personally wouldn't run a 255 on a 7" wide rim...that's just a little too much.

Anything over a 225-235 wide tire on a set of turbines is going to be floaty....not recommended, unless you like a car that handles like .

I have the Traction T/A's as well. Size 225/60-15
They've been great so far. Great wet traction and good snow traction.
I used to have Radial T/A's which I really liked for the raised white lettering, but their traction sucked and it didn't take long for them to wear out.

I just put 2 Traction TA's on my front end, size 215/55/16, and I can't believe how much crisper the turns are now...can't wait to get 2 more for the back.
I know, they're not 225/60's...but that's all the guy had at the time...
When I get upgraded at my job, I'll probably spring for 4 new 225/60/16 Traction TA's.
They do have an agressive tread, wish they came in raised white letters though..

I've got 16's but my tire of choice was spoogeho Ecsta 711's. 245/55 HR 16.

I've only go them on the rear at the moment but hell it grabs so hard, no slip. Ass end stays planted around corners.

i have 4 15" tires for sale. they have a ton of life in them 80% at least. 2 are traction TAs and 2 are some other brand. 2 are 225/?/15 and 2 are 235/?/15. i was looking to get 100 for all 4.

its either that or im going to burn them off if i can find a 5 lug 15" rim that will clear the rear cobra brakes....

i had 225/60-15 on my turbines and they were cooper cobras. The best tire i have ever driven on! other than my mickey thompson drag radials

Well, the traction TA's I put on friday night really proved up tonight, coming home in an inch of white fluff...

The front end would not hardly get loose at all, whereas the ass would hang out everytime...can't wait to get 2 more for the back.
I've never driven a rear drive car in snow with tires that gripped as good as these do, and I've been driving for 13 years.
And no, I don't feel sorry fer you poor bastids in kansas and nebraska that're really gettin snow tonight! :flip:
