what i have done Reply #8 – February 06, 2006, 04:21:14 PM How do you fix the egr? My car got the same reading and I have no clue what that even is. I forget what else it said was wrong with it but I had to replace my valve cover gaskets and head gaskets. My A/C compressor was missing some bolts so the engine rattled like hell and my dad put some bolts in there to stop it and it worked but they were the wrong length. They aren't touching anything but I was wondering if it could still **** up my car with the wrong A/C compressor bolts. Quote Selected
what i have done Reply #9 – February 06, 2006, 04:34:19 PM ac compressor bolts shouldnt affect the cars performance. the egr is on the intake an my 84 it is a spacer between the trottle body and the intake manifold but on newer ones it will be on the back of the upper intake manifold. i just blocked mine off and unplugged it because i dont have to deal with emmisions. the computer does realize that its not there but it hasent seemed to affect it other than it having a code. what i have done Reply #10 – February 06, 2006, 04:46:53 PM Yeah that guy I bought it from might have done something like that. This guy didn't take care of the car at all. Before we put the different bolts in it would shake like crazy I was just wondering if it might rub up against something and mess it up b/c they're a little longer than the stock ones. I gotta change the transmission fluid too. This dude was retarded and didn't take care of it thats why the head gaskets are blown. I want to get it painted too cuz it is ugly brown color. Oh yeah mines an 1987 LX if that makes any difference with the bolts. Quote Selected
what i have done Reply #11 – February 06, 2006, 05:00:10 PM as long as the bolts dont touch anything they shouldnt i would leave them alone. yours will be one with the egr on the upper manifold. you should get a repair manual for it it will help alot with part locations and testing procedures. what i have done Reply #12 – February 07, 2006, 04:59:32 PM Oh yeah, The computer also said something about the TPS do u know how to fix this? I'm not very car savvy and I hate goin to the mechanic and not knowing whether I should believe him or not. Quote Selected
what i have done Reply #13 – February 07, 2006, 05:36:53 PM as i said b4, you should get a repair manual. they are very valuable for everything if you take the time to learn how to use it. if you want to bring the car to utah i will help you out with it but i cant properly diagnose it without having it to look at. what i have done Reply #14 – February 10, 2006, 09:34:11 PM Uh well my dad is a mechanic lol and he forgot what the egr was but he figured it out. He's startin to get a little old. And he lives just one state away so. It's all good. Quote Selected
