Yeah the dog dish hubcaps make it.

3.55's for the truck has been on the agenda since i've had it, and actually, the guy I bought the fairmont from has a set plus a Trac-Loc that he's going to help me put into it as soon as I get some extra money.  Its just not a priority right now though, I'd rather put it towards getting the 'Mont running.  I havent towed any trailers - but I have dragged a loaded E-Van & 87 stang around a friends yard, and loaded the bed with 700+ pounds of engine and tranny multiple times and havent burned up the original clutch yet.  Its just slow.  But I still wouldnt trade it for a 5.0:slap:
You wouldn't even notice a difference in pulling  ability between a 302 and a 300 six, if both had 3.55 gears in 'em.
I have a 92 F150 with 302/five speed, and my buddy has a 95 with the six and a five speed, only diff is, his is four wheel drive, mine aint , and there's no noticeable difference in strength, (until now, since I blew my engine up)
And I agree with one of your other posts, about FTE being a bit too PC....and I'm being mild, LOL.
ps, welcome to the forum. I like your car, has the makins of the ultimate sleeper.

Exactly what I was thinking.  I think you should paint it though.  The same color or a slightly darker blue.  And maybe fix that hole in the dash.  Can't wait to see your progress though!

Personally the thoughts of small, non-power py Fox brakes scare the piss out of me.

If it were me and I wanted to keep the steelie/dogdish look, but not risk my and my passengers lives, I'd look into getting some 17" steelies and use some real brakes on the car.  I know you can get some made any size you like and they can't be all that expensive.  I wouldn't mind having a set of 16" ones for winter use on my Z-7.

That's identical to the one my grandmother had. Same colors and everything. Man does that bring back memories.

After a solid engine and trans rebuild, I just want to do the bare minimum to get it driving around the block - I have a history of getting way too crazy on my past projects and then never being able to get them on the road again.  So, I probably wont be driving it around town too much with the stock, wimpy, non power brakes, but rather just have it running & driveable at the absolute minimum cost.  and then worry about about making the suspension more solid, stronger brakes (I smell a Mark VII junkyard raid) etc etc.  Just slowly keep upgrading it - thats all I can do because I'm virtually broke.

If I ever repaint it, its going back to the original blue.  Or red metalflake with a vinyl top and gold trim, havent decided for sure yet.

I love the steelies and dog dishes, but realisitically I'll probably get some Mustang 10 hole's or Turbines for it so I can at least fit some real tire under it, and I'm pretty sure the stock wheels wont even have clearance for late fox GT brakes.

I'll save the stock rims for burnout photo-ops and general mayhem.

Thanks for the support:hick:

Why not do a 5-lug swap and install a set of Crown Vic 16" steelies and dog dishes? That way you'd get to keep the cool dog dish look (they really make that car) but get to use modern sized tires and brakes...

Pretty good idea, I really havent thought the tire/wheel situation through that far yet.

Its really just up to whatever falls in place at the time though

Nice project. Reminds me of my first fox body which was a 78 Fairmont two door. That was a fun ride with the 200 inline six. However the car fell victim to a roll over.

Couldnt find this thread earlier, this pic is from a car show a couple years ago, the one on the left was all done up, full cage, racing buckets, stripped interior, fuel cell etc. the one on the right was all stock except for an injected 5.0, very nicely done. The honduh looked scared.
