Adding a Sub in stock System... January 10, 2006, 01:22:42 PM Since the ExplorerForums Ignores me with every question i do, i have to try here... I have in the 96 explorer the stock Premiun Cassette radio with 6 cd changer and 4 speakers. I want to add a sub (preferably where it was the JBL woffer in some models) and building is not a problem. The problem is i dont want to get rid the Stock Radio. I already have the wiring diagram (thanks thunderchicken) I want to know if i can run wires from both rear speakers, connect it to some Equalizer with "high level input" and from the Eq connect the amplifier and bla bla bla.... I noticed some people adds some "modulators" , those things that converts the Audio out in RCA out. This is because they said the quality is not very good, but i dont know. Which solution is better ? Reply #1 – January 10, 2006, 02:15:18 PM i would convert it to the rca so you can use the low input on your amp. the reason why is with a sub you are trying for bass and if you hook the amp up using the high input you are hookiing it up for higher pitch sounds. jeremy Quote Selected

I want to add a pair of 10" Rockford Fosgate to a custom box. Heres my new problem. Some people says i need an electronic crossover to get a good bass , or get an equalizer with sub frecuency.... Reply #4 – January 24, 2006, 09:04:26 PM Another way to go instead of using a modulator is to find a high quality amp with speaker level (or high input filter as these guys say)inputs and a low pass filter. Like tbirdscott said, most newer amps already have a low pass filter as part of the eq settings. Quote Selected
